Nimen hao ma?
This week was great as always. We started the week off with a trip to the Dr. My toe is now fixed but still pretty painful. So goes the life. We are still working hard and seeing miracles. This week was filled with a lot of finding. My trainer was in Ankang for so long that he probably new everyone here. It was always super easy to get people to meet with us. This week the responsibility was upon my shoulders and we did okay. We still met with a lot of people but also had a great amount of finding time. This week we found 3 new investigators all through phone calls! It was a great miracle. We had spent a lot of time tracting and contacting without much success so we decided to make some calls. Our last three calls were all new investigators!!! Great miracle.
This week I tried to look for the little ways that God gives me comfort and speaks to me. I was incredibly surprised with the results. My foot wasn't feeling well the day after I had the surgery and we ended up meeting with a Bei Bei in our ward. He is the nicest old man. He noticed that I was limping and was just so concerned about me. He said that God would bless me because of the work I was doing. It was something small but needed. He was going to call a taxi to take us 3 minutes to our house. I have found that church is seriously my saving grace. I am shocked by how much I learned in church. Because I have a really hard time understanding church I've been reading the Ensign and Book of Mormon. Some of my most powerful witnesses have come while doing personal study during church. Yesterday, during church, our investigator R----- gave me a call. He told me that all of his baby rabbits had died and it was because of a mistake that he had made. He was really upset. It was so cool though. At that moment I was reading in the Liahona about how animals have Spirits. I was able to testify to him that they were happy and in heaven. We then helped him do a funeral service after church. I never thought I would officiate a bunny funeral on my mission... :)
We had 2 investigators, all of our Recent Converts and a less active at church. Great week!
I spent this week studying 2nd Nephi. I can honestly say I've never really tried to understand that much in the past. But I really put the effort in this week and received a lot of great insights. There is so much to learn about our time from 2nd Nephi.
W-- d----- is doing great. We haven't met with him for 2 weeks but two days ago were able to get a hold of him. He was full of things to say as always. He had his Book of Mormon on the night stand because he had read something he wanted to discuss. He told my new companion about why he started meeting with us (the movie YES MAN with Jim Carrey) and that since we had started meeting with him his life had completely changed. The first week we met with him we taught him about having a "perfect brightness of hope" and how that changed his outlook on life. Since we have started meeting with him his 33 book was published, he was invited to analyze a political debate on TV, he has met the president of Taiwan, will meet the president of China, and many other great things. He is becoming a famous man. He really feels like our help has helped him receive these blessings. The trick is helping him realize that these are all blessings from God. He really helps me realize that no matter the outcome my help is needed and wanted in Taiwan.
There was an experience yesterday that saddened me a bit. There is a mother in our ward who has three sons. The father is not involved. I'm not sure how long but it has definitely been 10 years or more. She works 3 jobs to support her son who is on a mission. She pulled me aside in church and told me that she was having a really rough week. Her second oldest son and her had been fighting. He is having a hard time with his testimony and just does not listen to his mother. She was kind of distraught. For a few seconds I felt pretty helpless. But right before sacrament meeting started I decided to go and sit by her. The son that had been having the problems did not show up to church and her other son was not sitting by her. I started to think about her and her situation a lot. Halfway through the meeting I opened my scriptures to a page that had the perfect scripture for her. I pointed to it and had her read it and she told me that it gave her a lot of comfort. I was grateful for the Spirit and His guidance. Please pray for her success and happiness.
My companion and I are getting a long great. We have a really fun time. He is going to be a great district leader. His main goal with our district is to increase the number of peikes in our ward. I think this is a really great idea. Our companionship really needs to increase the member involvement and will be focusing a lot on it this week. I'm excited to take on this new challenge and I really believe that we will begin to see more miracles as the work goes on. I was really impressed by our members on Sunday and how they all sat by an investigator, LA, or RC. Good stuff!
Okay so anybody out there that is within the sound of my voice who supports universal health care should be stoned! Seriously I don't think that anybody that has experienced universal health care and then had American style health care would believe that. I was in the most unsanitary room with 15 to 20 nurses running in and out grabbing tools (all without gloves). I had an open wound that was just bleeding with no attention. The doctor was nice but you could tell he was stressed about everything that was going on. You can literally go to the Dr. for anything and they have to see you and give you the same amount of time as everybody else. It was literally a mad house. I was disgusted. Needless to say my procedure, without insurance, was 40 dollars. So if you want to sacrifice your life than vote for universal health care. GAH!
Love you all and I hope ya'll are happy
