Family and friends!
! I had a little bit of a rough time last week but I think everyone on their missions has some of those days. I will move on and look forward to might bright future. I also feel the companionship of the Holy Ghost much more often than I have in the past and really feel his guidance in the work. We will be seeing some HUGE miracles coming up here in the next couple of months.
The work is moving along here in XinBan. It has been a little bit slower lately due to some of our performances but it is still moving. We have been meeting with a kid named He Bing Chang. He is a great kid who has a wonderful connection to the church. His best friend is the bishop's son. The bishop's family is such a solid family and are very involved in his conversion process. We Shangke at their house every week and they always provide such an amazing atmosphere. It really is a huge difference when you shangke in a members house. I absolutely love it. He DX has really expressed his willingness to learn and is reading the BOM and praying everyday. We are hoping he will be able to be baptized in January!
I had a great exchange with Elder Chapman. (He's a future NBA player look him up on youtube Jordan Chapman) He is a really great missionary. Works really hard and really cares about the people. We discussed the purpose of the invites that we had been given from zone meeting and really believe they are going to help our zone progress very fast. I really am starting to see the purpose of keeping the invites. Elder Gerrard is so good at making sure we review them and follow them everyday and I know that we are being blessed because of our efforts. It is amazing.
I believe that I am beginning to understand the way that I am being tempted on my mission. I feel like a lot of people have these feelings but I think that Satan just likes to put self doubt into our minds constantly. I'm tempted to not try as hard because sometimes I feel like I can't live up to the standards I need to or that I wasn't good enough before the mission and therefore I can't have the Spirit. This isn't true. I don't believe that anymore. I'm working really hard to get over those feelings of self doubt and just relying on the Lord and my strength.
I am currently writing my own version of "White Christmas" to sing for the talent show on Christmas at zone conference. It's pretty funny so far the title is "rainy, windy, freezing cold Christmas" It has a lot of jokes about the missionary work here in Taiwan. A bunch of it is Chinese but I'll send it home when I finish it.
The biggest blessing I received this week was some wonderful news from my last area. My investigator, Zhang DX the one I had many of you pray for, has decided to be baptized on Christmas!!! It was so cool. My last companion told me that when he said he would be baptized he said, " I'll get baptized only if Elder Meeks and Elder Nelson come back and see it." Man That made my mission. I'm so happy that I was able to prepare someone to be baptized. The best part about it is that his wife is already baptized so I will be hear when they can go get sealed in a year from now!!!!!
I love the work and it's progressing smoothly. I'll be passing off phase 2 this week and moving on to characters! Super excited!
Elder Meeks
