SUP PEEPS!?
Good morning! It's another great week here in XinBan. We were busy with performances this week but the Lord blessed us with many miracles. I think that is the pattern I have seen in my mission so far. When you are busy and working as hard as you can the Lord makes up the slack for sure. If he doesn't that's okay too. There are unforeseen blessings in the future in store for you. I truly am growing my testimony every single week. My love for God and my Savior is strengthened as I strive to do the things I know he would have me do. My personal growth is coming more quickly than ever before in my life and I feel it is because I am willing to act on the knowledge and promptings that I am receiving. That is a big key if not the main key. When we expect an answer we must be willing to act on the answer that is received or why would he give us the answer? Faith unto action.
We found a great investigator this week named S-- D---. He self contacted us on the street and asked if he could come and take a tour of our church. He was really nice and we set up a time. Sometimes you don't have a lot of hope for people when they do that but he showed up and we had a great lesson with him. He was shocked at how beautiful our church was and that nobody lived there. He was really open and willing to do the things we invited him to do. He came to church and Sunday and had a great time. I also found an effective way to get the members to fellowship our investigator. I went up to every member I could see and personally invited them to go and introduce themselves and make friends. It was such a success. So many people were willing and S--- D---- and our other investigators at church were really happy. He also set up another appointment for next Saturday. He has a lot of potential.
We were going to visit an LA the other night who ended up not being home. We had about a half hour left to proselyte and Elder Gerrard spotted a dad and son walking home. Elder Gerrard starting talking to them in English and the little kids english was really good. We had a great chat with them and they were completely willing to set up a time for us to come and visit them. We are going this Saturday and we are really excited. The son attends a Catholic school and really loves religion. His dad doesn't really know anything and was really curious. Miracles upon Miracles.
I've been studying the old testament a ton lately and I really have increased my knowledge in this area a lot. It really is beneficial. The Bible is also the word of God and has great things to teach us if we will spend the time to ponder the deeper meanings it has. Pondering... That is an interesting skill that I have felt has developed a lot on my mission. The danger is pondering can lead to sleep so you have to be careful! But as I have pondered the scriptures I feel that the Lord is able to communicate to me and really help me feel the meanings of the scriptures but more importantly will teach me things that will help me in my life or in my investigators lives.
We had a family we have been teaching come to our choir performance and both of them loved it very much. The dad is 19 and the mom is 22 and their son is 2 months. They have been married for about 2 months as well. They are really struggling and we are working with the ward right now to try and help them out. They need some friends and someone that will just care about them. We am really excited to try to get the ward involved in their behalf.
I have also recently had the feeling several times that I should start memorizing more scriptures. I am attempting to memorize one new scripture each day. I haven't decided if it would be more effective in Chinese or English. I have been doing Chinese so far and I have found that it is pretty cool to just be able to spout off a memorized Chinese scripture when you need one. I think that I will attempt to balance it out and maybe just switch every other day. I can already see the blessings of it.
I am happy, healthy, working hard and trying to repent everyday. I pray for charity and patience in every prayer and my ability to love the people of Taiwan has grown immensely. God is a merciful God who truly cares about our trials. If we will just do what D.C. 88:63 says we will truly be given the help we are needed. As we strive to consecrate ourselves and better ourselves through repentance and the atonement of Jesus Christ our ability to feel the Love of our Savior will increase and our ability to serve the Lord will continue to grow. The peace that the gospel brings to the hearts of men is the thing which mankind craves the most. Most people just don't know it that it is missing. Which is us the Holy Ghost's job through us missionaries.
I love the gospel plain and simple.
