Hey Family and Friends!
Wu Dixiong is such a great guy. We have just continually been shocked by the spiritual progression he has made in the last month. He just gets it. When we teach him he absorbs it and remembers it all. He really feels like God is a part of his life now. We asked him straight up if his girlfriend wasn't a member if he would still join the church and he said for sure. He believes it. He came with us to an Elders Quorum activity and the Elders really took him in. We had a great lunch and then a great training on goal setting from temple president President He. We are so stoked to see him get baptized!
Paul is doing well. He is in a struggle for his salvation right now. He completely admitted us that the people he hangs out with are just not good influences and he wants to escape but his work requires him to act like them to please them. Or so he says. He just doesn't want to be the odd ball out at the party. A lot of his work deals with public affairs and consequently has lots of dinners and parties he attends with clients. He is afraid is he stops being one of the "bros" as I like to call it he will be ostracized and his work will suffer. I know how he feels and it's a super painful change. He wants to do it though. We just promised him over and over again if he will do it the Lord will provide a way. He has committed to do it and set a date for the 31st of Jan. He is a great guy who really feels the practical application of the gospel. Hoping to see that man in white!
Gene is our investigator who is living on the streets. Through a series of unfortunate events her life turned upside down and she is too ashamed to ask her family for help. Her son has no idea that she is living on he streets. But for a woman who is going so some really rough times she is so positive. We hope to continue to help her understand the role of God in her life. She is very receptive to the Spirit and such a sweet woman. She has a serious smoking problem but we hope to help her get over that and improve the quality of her life!
Zhang jiemei is doing okay. She just has a hard time understanding church is something that is really important in her life. She loves coming but if she has other things she just won't go. We are really trying to help her develop her faith and are a little worried she might be regressing but we'll continue to do our best.
Christmas was such a wonderful experience. I was so nice to be with all the taibei zones and just enjoy the Spirit of Christmas. The food was incredible the talent show was a blast and I laughed myself silly. I'm so glad I got to have two Christmases on the mission. I really hope that in the future I can focus my Christmases on service because when I'm serving I am just ultra happy.
Funny thing happened at the Wanda Elders baptism last night. I interviewed their baptismal candidate and we became pretty good acquaintances. At his testimony after his baptism he told everyone how I looked like Joseph Smith and that I would be a great man someday. So embarrassing but he was sincere. Really good guy who has a lot of family support.
I'm happy healthy and working my hardest. I definitely feel that this time in my mission is the time to shine. I'm super ready to face the challenges I will have to face in the next three months! I love the Lord so much and just want to serve Him the best I can.
Happy New Year's
Elder Meeks
